“Shake Your Thang” A New 10x10 Tribute to Hip-Hop Icons

My latest 10x10 painting, “Shake Your Thang,” is a vibrant celebration of three trailblazing women who reshaped hip-hop culture and paved the way for generations of artists: Salt-N-Pepa, newly inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This piece captures the energy, power, and joy they brought to the stage especially in their iconic Shake Your Thang music video.

Created for the annual Artworks Trenton 10x10 Fundraising Art Show, this painting will be available for purchase for $100 during the exhibition. The show opens on December 13th, with member early access at 5 PM and a public reception from 6–9 PM.

“Shake Your Thang” was inspired by the movement, fashion, and empowerment these artists brought into Black culture and mainstream music. Their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame felt like the perfect moment to honor their legacy through art.

This 10x10 piece is more than a tribute it’s a celebration of Black women in music, sisterhood, and the influence of hip-hop on visual storytelling. I’m thrilled to share it with the community and contribute to a show that uplifts local artists each year.
