Starting my first Body of Work.
I’m in the middle of something exciting creating my first full body of work. It’s a process of exploration, discovery, and experimentation, and I’m still in the sketching phase, mapping out ideas, themes, and compositions for what will become a cohesive collection.
Each day in the studio is different. Some days the sketches flow naturally, inspired by memories, culture, and moments I want to capture. Other days, I wrestle with ideas, trying to figure out how to connect individual pieces into a larger story. Every line, shape, and color I experiment with is part of building the foundation for the collection.
I’m learning so much about my creative process as I go. This journey is teaching me patience, discipline, and the importance of trusting the work even when it’s messy or uncertain. I’m thinking carefully about how each piece will relate to the others the way colors, symbols, and imagery can carry a larger message about identity, culture, and experience.
Even though the work isn’t finished, I already feel the growth. Each sketch brings me closer to defining my voice, refining my vision, and creating something that is entirely my own. This body of work is not just a collection of paintings; it’s a journey that’s unfolding, and I’m excited to see where it leads.
I hope sharing this process can inspire other artists or creatives who are in the middle of their own projects the in-between stages, the experimentation, and the uncertainty are all part of building something meaningful.
